No More (Part 6)

Gideon’s Call Places Him in Good Company

Judges 6:15–17

[15] And he said to him, “Please, Lord, how can I save Israel? Behold, my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.” [16] And the LORD said to him, “But I will be with you, and you shall strike the Midianites as one man.

“I am the least in my father’s house!” This is how Gideon perceives himself, a constant reminder of his position within his family. Yet, he has not yet grasped how God sees him, and he isn’t alone in this struggle. Moses and Jeremiah had similar objections when God called them too. However, God, in His infinite ways, assures them all by saying, “I will be with you.” This assurance was also extended to Joshua. (Ex.3:12, Josh. 1:5, 9). This puts Gideon in the same lineage of leaders with the promise of great success, yet Gideon doubted and felt crippled with fear. His fear was amplified by the fact that he had encountered God's angel face to face, leaving him feeling overwhelmed.

Judges 6:23–24

[23] But the LORD said to him, “Peace be to you. Do not fear; you shall not die.” [24] Then Gideon built an altar there to the LORD and called it, The LORD Is Peace... (ESV)

Now, let’s address the fear. Gideon was instructed to confront the enemy camp, for, “I have given it into your hand.” Understanding his fear, the Lord tells him to go down to the camp with his servant Purah, to gather “intel”, assuring him, “afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp. Interestingly, Purah means “branch” or “coverage". This is no coincidence, as God assured Gideon, despite his fear, that he would not send him alone, and he would be protected by his mighty hand.

So down to the camp they went, at which they overheard a prophetic dream given to the enemy of their impending defeat.

Filled with joy and gratitude, Gideon worshiped God, returned to Israel, and organized the 300 men into three companies and gave them empty vessels with torches inside of them, along with trumpets. With his newfound strength, said to them “Look at me, and do likewise. When I come to the outskirts of the camp, do as I do.” Gideon began to embody the role of a king.

At his command, they smashed the vessels, revealing the torches in their left hands, and trumpets in their right, and shouted, “for the Lord and for Gideon!” (vs 21)

That day, the Midianites were vanquished.

The time for hiding in caves and obscurity has passed. God is calling His Ekklesia to (smash) or break free, to consecrate themselves, and sound the alarm!

Today the battle we face will be fought in the heavenly realm. While we will certainly feel its effects in the physical world, rest assured that God is by our side!

2 Corinthians 4:7 NLT

7 We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.[a] This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.

Ready or not, the year 5785 is upon us!

The Hebraic calendar year of 5785/2025 represents several things, two of which is a call to repentance, and a running after, or returning to God Himself. Now is a crucial time to humble oneself, receive the breath of life, and begin to steward what God has imparted within you. No longer will He allow the body of Christ, to walk in idolatry.

No longer will He allow his people to build without Him. Ready or not, here we are. The refining work of the Lord is here, and we must count the cost and go low, surrendering our will and desires to be transformed and enveloped within the heart of the Father. To be purified by fire, with the knowing that it may/will cost you everything.

Revelation 12:11 ESV

11 And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.

God is old school, never changing, the same yesterday today and forever, and He’s desiring to draw us deeper, in the awe and reverence of the Lord.

Jesus said, in John 6:51

“I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Living Bread, who have come down from Heaven, and if a man will eat of this bread, he will live for eternity, and the bread that I shall give is my body that I give for the sake of the life of the world.” As the second Adam, Jesus body and blood has become the tree of life, which is freely offered to everyone who denies self, and follows Him.

Now is time for the “Called Out Ones” to blow the trumpet and sound the alarm on His holy mountain (Joel 2).

Just like Gideon and his 300 men, open your mouth and make some noise. Let the word of truth permeate the atmosphere! Do not conceal your light; instead, place it where it can be seen by all. Allow the work of Holy Spirit to envelope you, and shine brightly so that others may witness His works through you and glorify your Father in heaven. Remember, God is the Father of lights and has called us the light of the world.

It’s time to fill your lamps. Which mountain will you chose? The mountain of desert tribes? Or the mountain of holiness?

Editor’s Note

My original message was shared on social media on May 20, 2020, titled "Somethings Stirring." On June 17, 2023, the Lord reminded me of it, prompting me to add deeper insights. That evening, I worked until 2:18 AM, and as divine timing would have it, I revisited it on October 17 and completed the final revisions on October 18 at 2:18 AM. Upon reviewing it again, I clearly recognize its significance for what lies ahead in 5785/2025, to which I added some final thoughts.
