During my trip out of town, heading to Philadelphia airport a couple years ago, I had an unforgettable conversation with Abba that has remained with me since. Recently, I revisited the story I wrote about it and was astounded by how prophetic and relevant it is to what many believers are currently experiencing. Below is an enhanced version of what I wrote back then.
As I drove along the highway, heading to catch my flight to Texas, I felt a shift in the atmosphere. The two-hour journey from northern Pennsylvania to Philadelphia International Airport can often be plagued by traffic, depending on the time of day; however, that was not the case this season. The 476-turnpike appeared remarkably empty, with no rush hour congestion throughout the entire route to the airport. Only a handful of travelers sped by, likely taking advantage of the open lanes.
I recall catching glimpses of their faces; many looked visibly exhausted and burdened with anxiety. Numerous individuals were dressed in work attire that reflected their professional roles. I even remember a woman in scrubs, struggling to hold back her tears.
Though I felt a sense of peace, I could also sense an urgency in my spirit. As the sun began to rise, I contemplated the many "essential" workers who were racing to their destinations. I considered the heavy burden society had placed upon them, a weight they likely never anticipated carrying. Moreover, the fear generated in the environment only added to their already heavy load.
The Spiritual Battle at Hand
There's more at stake than meets the eye. The spiritual battle that rages on in heavenly places is about to manifest itself in a realm where millions of people do not know how to operate.
But for the remnant – the Crucified Ones – those who stand firm against the adversary, who stand on a wall and take back dominion by the authority of the King of Kings and say, "not today!"
You cannot have my country, my city, my town, my street!
You cannot have our schools and our children, our parks, and our businesses!
You cannot have our government!
For the government shall be upon HIS Shoulders!
Over all nations! His Kingdom! Here on earth!
We will not have it any other way!
Do you recall how Gideon and his 300 men defeated the tyrannical Midianites?
Gideon and his 300 men's victory over the Midianites was a remarkable event in history. But how did they do it? Before this battle, there was a strategic event that took place. God sent an angel to Gideon to deliver Israel from the Midianites' oppressive rule. The Midianites, accompanied by the Amalekites and other desert tribes, invaded the land, leaving the Israelites oppressed and overwhelmed.
In Deuteronomy 25, God warned Israel never to forget what the Amalekites did when they came out of Egypt. Amalek was ruthless, targeting the weak and exhausted, by attacking those lagging behind. They had no fear of God.
Since then, this people became the epitome of hostility towards Israel. Even God declared in Exodus 17:16,
"They have raised their fist against the Lord's throne, so now the Lord will be at war with Amalek generation after generation." These are just one of the desert tribes that partnered with the Midianites. The Israelites were distraught and fearful, forced to isolate themselves in the mountains, caves, and strongholds. (They were unable to congregate, open their businesses, or access their own supplies. They were stripped of their God given rights in every way deemed possible. Sound familiar?) Every asset, including crops and livestock, were plundered. Annihilation was at their doorstep, and they were deemed "non-essential."
